The star has handed over the full amount of his twenty-five thousand pound Mercury Prize prize money to the Music Venues Trust, which operates to protect the UK's independent live music spots.
The star was awarded the prize on October 16 as his new release People Watching was named the top album of the previous year.
Fender has opted to give the cash to the MVT, in recognition of the essential function grassroots venues played in his beginning days.
"As an artist would not have achieved what I am doing today if it wasn't for all the shows I did around the region, and beyond, when I was starting out," stated Fender. "These venues are iconic, but they are in difficulty."
Since the start of 2023, more than 150 of these locations have shut down – about one-sixth of the entire UK sector.
In the last year, major artists like the band Pulp, Coldplay, the singer Katy Perry and Sheeran have all backed the trust in its attempts to support the industry, by including a minor surcharge to their ticket costs, which benefits smaller concert halls.
Sam Fender also joined in, raising more than £100,000 on his 2024 arena tour to assist thirty-eight local spots across Britain.
The donation helped locations that were facing imminent closure due to difficulties stemming from water damage, fire incidents and family tragedies, as well as licensing issues, conflicts and neighbor objections.
Additional spaces received monetary aid in improving infrastructure and technical equipment that positively impacted performers and fans.
"The idea that money from shows in big venues supports the independent spots, where it begins for artists like me, is just common sense," Sam Fender has commented.
Fender is among several artists to give his Mercury Prize funds to charitable organizations.
In they received the prize in the mid-90s for their release their work, frontman the singer announced that the group would donate their cash to the organization the charity.
That year, musician Ms Dynamite divided her bounty among a few charities, such as the NSPCC and a Sickle Cell organization.
"I also contributed a grand to Highgate Newtown, to their gymnastics program, because I trained in gymnastics when I was growing up and they lacked updated gear," she shared with outlets.
Two years ago, the band donated their prize money to the local youth club that developed their act, alongside other local music groups.
Also winners that year the group gave their winnings to a multiple sclerosis charity after a acquaintance was diagnosed the condition.
"Receiving the award was sufficient," stated singer the singer. "The cash was the cherry on top but we could do without the cherry, because we had the main prize. So our victory touched the lives of others."
Last week, the Music Venues Trust announced it had protected a couple of grassroots venues in south-east England, by transferring them to public stewardship.
The first in the city and the second in Bristol were purchased under the public acquisition program, which is backed by the arts council and supporters who buy "shares" in the buildings.
