Local Law Enforcement
Roughly 50 cars have been marked with what appears to be human bodily fluid in the German city of Hanau near Frankfurt, as reported by police.
Cars, exterior walls and postboxes were marked, sometimes with Nazi symbols, they announced in a statement.
Law enforcement report they were alerted in the late hours on Wednesday evening, when a man discovered that a vehicle in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been marked with a reddish substance.
The substance had been placed in the pattern of a swastika, they stated.
Law enforcement then found numerous other vandalized vehicles and house walls in the nearby vicinity.
Nazi symbols are prohibited in Germany under regulations prohibiting the public display of symbols from the Nazi era.
Police say early analysis indicate the fluid was most likely human blood.
"There is still no clue as to its origin; investigators are presently not informed of any injuries in association with the occurrence," they commented.
Municipal representatives said they were trying "to resolve the mystery" and have requested to the public for details.
A senior official said the incident left him without words and required to be solved quickly.
"This act affects the very heart of Hanau and reopens the trauma of the far-right violent incident in 2020," he posted on online, referring to the death of nine victims by a assailant focusing on individuals of foreign heritage in 2020.
